John Hardin principal hired for new top spot
ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (AP) - Covington Independent Schools have hired a principal from Elizabethtown to man the top spot of the district.
The Covington Board of Education voted 5-0 on Saturday to hire 42-year-old Alvin L. Garrison to run the school district. Garrison had been principal at John Hardin High School since 2006.
The News-Enterprise reported that Garrison landed a 4-year contract with an annual salary of $129,000. Covington Independent Schools consists of 10 schools, including a pre-school, alternative school and adult education center.
Last fall, Garrison was selected to participate in the Minority Superintendent Internship Program - a 2-year program that eventually would have led to an out-of-district internship.
Garrison will take over the district in June.
