Detention center stepping up security after inmates escaped | News

HARDIN COUNTY, KY (WAVE) – The Hardin County Detention Center is increasing security around its perimeter after four inmates escaped in the last six months.
The inmates escaped by digging a hole and crawling out under the fence.

Jail officials put up more fences and poured concrete slabs about 18 inches wide and 10 inches deep under the existing fences.

Two of the escapes happened six months ago while the other two happened last week.
Three of the four inmates have been caught.
